Contraception with progestogen:
Contraception with progestogens is IUDs, p-rod, contraceptive pill and mini-pill. It is also possible to get estrogen-free birth control pills.
Estrogen and progestogen contraception:
Combination preparations include birth control patches, birth control pills and «mini» pills. These preparations contain both estrogen and progestogen.
Remember that diarrhea, periodontal disease, antibiotics (resulting from a loose stomach or the use of rifampicin), some natural remedies (eg St. John’s wort) and some medicines can affect the effects of hormonal contraception. Talk to your gynecologist or doctor about this.
